389-ds software package provides 389 Directory Server suite - metapackage, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install 389-ds
389-ds is installed in your system.
Make ensure the 389-ds package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep 389-ds *
You will get with 389-ds package name, version, architecture and description in a table
